Day 165 – 365 / June 14th 2015

Some of my very very first, and most favourite books, were the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I read them as a young boy and have enjoyed them for over thirty years.

I always look forward to seeing a new film about Holmes and this one, starring Sir Ian McKellen, we were lucky to see ahead of it’s cinema release. It is a very good film although, for me, was a little saddening to see Holmes in his later years struggling with failing memory and faculties. It comes to us all, I suppose, but to see our heroes, even fictional ones, deprived of what makes them heroes to us, is sad.

Still, a film well worth seeing.
